We started school a few weeks ago. I had planned to post that very first week and tell all about our new school year. Unfortunately, that first week of getting going again along with adjusting to a new curriculum, didn't allow any time - or energy - for me to post anything. I couldn't believe how long it took us to get our work done. Literally ALL day! We were finishing up at dinnertime, and this was with me reading our read-alouds through breakfast AND lunch. I'm amazed I found time to eat anything! But, I should point out that it was Labor Day week, and we didn't do school that holiday Monday. So we were cramming extra work into those other three days (Fridays we have our homeschool co-op). After some great encouragement from an amazing friend and better organization of my materials, the following week was much better. I can even say enjoyable. We were finishing up early to mid-afternoon, providing that extra time we all needed for rest, fun, and housework. Alex and I were sick last week, so we got to take a few days off after only 2 weeks of school, but we managed to get right back into it this week. Here are some pictures of our rearranged school room and our first day of school:
We changed up the school room just a tad, mostly to accommodate our new little student, Miss Amy. :)
Each of the kids received a little giftbag for that first morning. They contained simple items: a fun changeable crayon, eraser, pencil, candy, gum for the boys... I can't remember what else, but you get the idea.
We had mice for tea-time... chocolate mice, that is. Alex selected this recipe for our first week's tea-time, which is normally a Christmas recipe entitled "Christmas Eve Mice", and you would normally decorate them a little more festive. They were just as tasty plain.
